Throw The Bums Out -
and Fix Health Care, Too!
We Are Americans Here. We are Not Powerless.
Don’t let them Ruin our Great Nation:
Take Back Congress!
Make them Fix Health Care!
Retribution is Less Than One Year Away
(And DON’T replace them with someone worse:
Get the right people IN ON THE PRIMARIES!!)
Here Are Some Reasons to be Mad!
The U.S. House & Senate have voted themselves $4,700 and $5,300 raises.
1. They voted to not give you a S.S. Cost of living raise in 2010 and 2011.
2. Your Medicaid premiums will go up $285.60 for the 2-years and you will not get the 3% COLA: $660/yr. Your total 2-yr loss and cost is -$1,600 or -$3,200 for husband and wife.
3. Over 2 years they each get $10,000.
4. Do you feel SCREWED?
5. Will they have your (calculated) cost of drugs – doctor fees – local taxes – food, etc., increase?
NO WAY . They have a raise and better benefits. Why care about you? You never did anything about it in the past. What they’re thinking: you obviously are too stupid or don’t care — enough.
IN 2010 YOU WILL HAVE A CHANCE TO GET RID OF THE SITTING CONGRESS:
Up to 1/3 OF THE SENATE, AND 100% OF THE HOUSE.
(…with a few excerptions, I’d do it. How the hell could we do worse???)
These would be excerptions in my mind,
(unless they vote for the final health care bill as is):
Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT)
Representative Alan Grayson (D-Fla)
Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
Representative Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) (if you don’t mind left wing)
(I’m open to your suggestions as to who else you think might be worth saving.
Please comment with your suggestions, below.)
Think the members of the Congressional Progressive Caucus
are special and should all be kept??
Try reading If the Congressional Progressive Caucus Were Progressive, Peace and Collaborative Development Network, November 12, 2009, by David Swanson:
The Congressional Progressive Caucus has 82 members, 81 in the House and 1 in the Senate, but has taken the anti-progressive onslaught of recent years lying down. The CPC can be counted on to say some pleasant things, but in the end 1 or 2 or 8 or 14 of its members will vote a progressive position. Almost never will the CPC attempt to organize its members to all take a stand. When it did organize 90 members to sign a letter to President Bush “opposing” war funding, virtually all of them turned around and voted for the funding.
Some observers held out hope that change might be on the way when Congressman Raul Grijalva this year took over one of the caucus’s two Co-Chair positions. But change hasn’t arrived yet, and Grijalva has made clear that he will sit by and wait for the president to deliver it. This is disconcerting, to put it mildly, for citizens who thought the role of a caucus of congress members might involve action as well as commentary.
Maybe it’s time for the……..
Amendment 28
“Congress shall make no law that applies
to the citizens of the United States that
does not apply equally to the Senators
or Representatives, and Congress shall make
no law that applies to the Senators or
Representatives that does not apply
equally to the citizens of the United States.”
And While We’re At It:
Fix the Health Care Bill Before It’s Too Late:
Sign the Firedoglake petition to kill the Senate Health Care Bill here.
NO SURRENDER. The overwhelming majority of Americans support a Medicare Buy-In (64%-30%) or a Public Option (56%-38%).
Tell Your Representatives:
http://www.democrats.com/make-them-talk.
Call Congress – Dial 1 (202) 224-3121, which is the Capitol operator, and make your voices heard, while there is still time!
Call the President – Dial (202) 456-1111, and ask him to stand up for America on health care.
Let’s get this passed around, folks -
