I am a proven editor of twelve books, can type 65 to 70 words per minute, and am a good programmer in HTML, XHTML and CSS, as well as being familiar with some other programming languages. I am familiar with working on databases, and entered data on the Ohio Democratic Party election database during election 2008. You’ll never find a more hard working, dedicated employee, either. I’m very grateful to the Universe for my life. I think that only in America could I have had the happy, even fulfilling, life that I have led. A little about Evans Liberal Politics — the blog and website. I am the owner, Paul Evans, a 53 year old man living in Wooster, Ohio and still on disability for mental illness, although I am actively looking for a full time job now. Because of the illness, I lived just about all of my adult life with my original nuclear family, all of whom have now passed away excerpt for my wonderful father, Jack, who at age 85 now has to live in a nursing home locally. I want to make it exquisitely clear that I currently have NO symptoms of mental illness.

In 2008, I was very involved in Barack Obama’s campaign for President. I started out in November of 2008 just after the election putting a lot of liberal political material on my website design site, Evans Web Design. Just for fun, you can read my first blog post, November 23, 2008, which, since it was written at that time right after the election, isn’t a bad read if you want some nostalgia. Apparently quite a lot of Republicans were still considering being halfway reasonable at that time. My politics posts got to be a big part of the website design site and I soon realized that I risked alienating half of my potential customer base at the least by blogging liberal news and politics there. The result was that the next summer (2009) I bought hosting and the http://www.evans-politics.com/ domain at GoDaddy, which is an affordable, full-featured, excellent web host. Evans Liberal Politics streams out of a GoDaddy server in Phoenix, Arizona. My computer “talks” with their “server” and the result is what you see! Then, by the fall of 2009 I decided to hire a national marketer called Website Consultants and also ask them for some design help. They strongly felt I should convert my site from a straight Dreamweaver CS4 site to a WordPress installation, and I hired them. The WordPress site is http://evans-politics.com/, without the www, although if you type that, it redirects here anyway. Website Consultants is a major marketing and web design firm out of Miami and New York state. They did great search engine optimization work for me, too.

I am using the WordPress theme multi-color 1.7 by Nischal Maniar. Website Consultants originally had me with the theme 714 2.6.2 by Template_Help.com, the Politics theme, although both Website Consultants and later to a very strong degree I myself, have highly modified the theme (and then replaced it with a new theme) to suit my purposes. I installed the multi-color theme myself, redesigned the header, and custom installed a new sidebar, with free plugins available for WordPress. Really, it doesn’t look all that much like the original theme at all, and although the Politics theme is one I would highly recommend to anyone, I REALLY like my new “multicolor 1.7″ theme and plan on staying with it for some time. There are a lot of free WordPress plugins I use, for SEO (to get the site so it has high ranking in search engines such as Google and Yahoo search), to make the pages load faster, and for the sidebar widgets and several others. As they say themselves, WordPress is “both free and priceless,” although it is not for newcomers to putting out a website and can be rather technologically challenging in some regards. But the basic process of creating a blog post is easy and fun, and almost everything with WordPress is automated. I wouldn’t consider blogging any other way, now. About the beginning of the year I removed posts older than October of 2009, simply because I was not satisfied with their quality and do not have the time to go back and fix hundreds of blog posts. Also in the time I’ve done Evans Liberal Politics I find that I have become much more politically savvy and feel I do a better job now just finding and composing news and politics, designing the posts and editing them more capably.

I am working very hard to bring you a quality product with as good of an experience reading liberal news and political coverage as I can. If anyone would like to chip in and either actually do some blog posts or work at scouting the news for me, please email me or phone 330-262-0571. (Enthusiasm is definitely more important than experience, but you need to be both liberal and politically savvy.) The site is still just becoming better known and it doesn’t make much money from the ads yet — (HEY I make money when you buy stuff from the ads here) — but I would be willing to split my revenue with another serious contributor. I make virtually nothing at this point and do it basically as a sort of labor of love. Mainly, Evans Liberal Politics is a reflection of my deep interest in the news and strong desire to help make our society a more caring one. It can be daunting as every night at midnight comes the next day’s struggle to find content for our readers. This can put a damper on my social life, and I apologize here to my housemates Shannon and Wes for the endless hours I spend with Evans Liberal Politics away from them. I somehow feel like this website is my calling in life and I am working very hard to make it popular. Please do share my website with your friends and contacts. That alone would be a great help.
