Come back often and listen while you're reading the news at Evans Politics! (The Finetune radio, below, is great too, and 'knows' a whole lot of different music.)

This Next one is dedicated to the the quiet of the Night
"My Rescue," a high energy, modern rock instrumental with great guitar hooks, intense bass/drums, slide guitar in the chorus and a vibrant guitar solo, by D. Saric. 3:44 I have always loved the night, found my peace and strength with it, and knew it's quietude. On the other hand, "darkness" is very pervasive as a metaphor for evil. As a Christian - or even a "decent" - man, I stand uncompromising against evil, yet enjoy the quiet and solitude of the night. A friend wrote: "at night, you can see the stars." The "enemy" - which is hate, which is fear, and is also living in uncaring ways in general - comes against us at all times of day or night, in my experience.
My survival, peace and sanity were preserved for me in the quiet of the night, and I am a "night owl," partly of necessity with the "24 hour news cycle" I report on. My "rescue" came recently when a wonderful woman named Mary, who was for a time my father's caregiver, showed me what Christ's love meant and felt like, perhaps, once again, in simple interaction. Some few years ago I was close to it, but until lately I've felt very "alone" in my heart.
Yet, (and I know this puts me outside of the norms), what it means to be Christian to me is to actually try to live a life with Christ's CARING (action verb) in your heart. To FEEL Christ's love and incorporate that in your life, in how you interrelate with people. Caring. To me, how you treat your fellow man matters more than a simple profession of faith. I bet it does to Jesus, too. But that's just me....right? Think upon how Jesus lived his life here on earth. My concern is my fellow man, here, in this life. I think we should all make our fellow man our own personal ministry, if you will. That's what I think the Universe calls us to do. That's why I "do" Evans Politics.
God and Jesus are very real to me, and I do have faith. I have a belief in God, yet my views on "who God is" and what he demands of us are in some ways typically liberal. I understand yet respectfully dissent when someone more conservative in his/her views of God discusses this with me or tries to "clue me in."
I truly feel that all that matters to God is: do you have a good heart; are you a caring person, and do you abstain from doing what you, yourself feel is wrong. I'm sorry if you feel otherwise, but that's an important element of my own faith. I've been told more than once that this is not Christian, and people have hurt me because of this belief; yet I must be true to what my own faith calls forth in me, or I have no faith at all.
In keeping with my thoughts about caring, the main reason I am a Democrat is that I feel we should be "our brothers' keeper," just as Jesus commanded us to "feed his sheep" (I take that literally). To me, however flawed they are, the Democrats are more about that than are the Republicans.
"Mystery," spacey, happy and summery, mysterious, passionate pop, with a new age overtone, with bass, piano, bells and great guitar, by Spinola. 5:17
"Spring," an emotional, sad & sweet and kind of heavy blues rock track with great instrumentation and a lead guitar that reminds me just a little of ELP's Lucky Man, by "mart," an anonymous artist from Kiev. Love Mother Earth! We kinda need to have a place to live for a while, right? Ah, a night breeze wafting in through the window on a summer's eve.... 4:37
"Time Changes Everything," an emotional, romantic lighter rock track with a bluesey feel, by Dan Gautreau. 2:46
"Redemption From a Hero's Past," slow, spiritual and soaring, purposeful, dramatic and emotional film music in which a hero finds redemption, by Silence in Central Park. 8:16
"Come With Me," a relaxing, good-feeling, electronic chillout pop/lounge vibe with drums that is my romance's end - and beginning again, by John Radford. 3:05
"Stay With Me," a catchy, romantic rock vocal track you might hear on the radio, with great guitars and drums, by Rob Neary. 3:12 My little female red Doberman Pinshcer Ruby lies at my feet as I "do" the news and is the best friend and companion a man could ask for -- almost. (She'll do anything for human junk food.) My Dad is home from the nursing home, now, and it's a time for celebration!
"Hungry," starts out as a sultry guitar piece and then ruptures into blazing overdrive guitar textures on the choruses, with plenty of desire, by Saints of Silence. 4:50
"Lovin' Arms," a smokin, hard rockin' instrumental by Monatomik. 4:01
"The Sky's The Limit," a song Coldplay could have written, joyous, uplifting and optimistic, with a feelgood chorus, by Dan Phillipson. 3:09
"Clear Skies," mellow pop-rock with an 'earthly,' natural feel, featuring acoustic and electric guitars, appealing melodies, and a dreamy, floating acoustic rock sound that has the feel of something lasting, by Pierre Gerwig Langer. 2:36
"Horizons," an uptempo, optimistic light alternative rock track, full of excitement, by Jeff Tymoschuk. 3:23
"Here With You," a comforting, heartwarming soft rock/pop track reminding us of the important things in life, with a light rock instrumental sound and endearing melodies, by Pierre Bernard Langer 2:26
"Peace of Mind," which is Evans Politics' wish and blessing for all of our viewers: a funky kind of R&B vocal track with wah guitars, electronic downtempo drums and a minimalist bass groove, by Project 2020. 4:39 Thanks to Mindy Summers for the wonderful picture.
All those lovers out there!

Music empowers my life. Born in 1957 in Washington, D.C., I started listening to a transitor radio in 1967 in St. Louis, Missouri. Even before this, as I child, I was aware of The Beatles and the Stones and listened in fascination as the older people I knew played this wonderful, new music. In jr. high and high school I played the cello. Collecting in earnest beginning in 1971, I remember that my first album was The Doobie Brothers, "The Captain and Me." Somehow I skipped the 8 track stage, thank goodness, but I have a very extensive vinyl, cassette, CD and digital collection, and if you want to talk with me about music, I'm always happy about that. I use music to shape my mood, to energize, cool down, for inspiration and however I want to feel, and I enjoy sharing it with people and talking about it. I couldn't imagine how barren my life would be without music! Paul's Playlist is some very personal music for me. Buying music rights to stream music online is expensive and this music is not only important to me, somehow the playlist, down to the details of it's order, represents my life's journey. |
